At Hand in Hand, every student can learn and advance by actively participating in the STEAM core curriculum subjects of reading readiness and writing lessons, language comprehension and early literacy instruction, math and science lessons, art & creative activities, social studies and global awareness, concept building & development, environmental exploration, critical thinking, problem resolution, music-based activities, and other developmentally-appropriate activities and academic learning experiences that facilitate the education and scholarship of the students enrolled in our program.

At Hand in Hand our teachers conduct formal assessments for your child to monitor educational and developmental progress. Once the assessments are completed, the progress of your child will be reviewed with parents and recommendations will be made about when is the best time to advance to the next classroom level in our program. STEAM Integrated Programs & Curriculum

Infant Program – 3 Months to About 12 Months

Our infant programs include full time care alongside developmentally appropriate activities such as:

  • Language skills through songs, books, poetry and verbal language spoken by caregivers
  • Floor time activities which encourage exploration and build physical and cognitive growth as well as observations and experiences between infants
  • Social skills and art activities which encourage emotional and creative growth
  • Physical activities which develop greater strength and coordination of small and large muscle groups
  • Music and movement activities which foster feelings of enjoyment as well as helping develop greater muscle strength
  • Sensory and creative activities which allow the infants to experience and explore new materials such as finger painting with pudding, listening to sounds of musical instruments and feeling tactile pillows and books

Toddler/2-3 Year Old Program – 12 Months to 2 or 3 Years Old

Our toddler programs include full time care accompanied with developmentally appropriate lessons and hands on activities such as:

  • Language skills through songs, books, poetry and verbal language. 
  • Learning the alphabet and recognizing shapes through playing games, hearing stories, reviewing flashcards and other activities
  • Math and cognitive skills through counting, number recognition, patterning, grouping and flashcard review
  • Sensory learning through explorations with the 5 senses, such as squishing and pounding dough, hearing music, smelling fragrances and tasting fruits and vegetables
  • Music and movement activities to build large muscle groups through marching, hopping, dancing, waving streamers as well as playing musical instruments
  • Arts and crafts activities that develop find motor skills such as tearing, squeezing, grasping, rolling, having and an appreciation for the fine arts

Kindergarten Preparatory Programs – 3 years to 5 years 

We offer full and part time kindergarten preparatory programs that focus on development in the following:

  • Language and literacy through alphabet, phonics concepts, stories, vocabulary, letter recognition and writing skills
  •  Mathematical concepts through learning experiences through number recognition, counting money, addition, subtraction, simple fractions, and many more. 
  •  Science lessons to learn about scientific process in the natural world through hands on explorations and experiments. 
  • Pre-reading and pre-writing literacy skills through the recognition of the alphabet, tracing and practicing the writing of different shapes and strokes, letters and numbers. Learning to write, rhyming, alliteration, syllables, role playing and the use of reading and writing in the real world
  • Social studies and global awareness through the understanding and acceptance of other peoples and cultures. Children learn about geography with a globe
  • Outdoor time encourages physical fitness and the strengthening of large muscle groups through participating in group games, physical challenges, exercising and use of climbing and sliding structures
  • Creative development through the creation of their own theme based art or craft ideas for development of fine motor skills, a sense of line, space and design as well as decision making skills using a variety of media

School Age Programs – Kindergarten through 5th Grade

We offer before and after school programs all the way through 5th grade that focuses on developing a variety of academic areas by focusing on the following:

  • Academic knowledge of elementary subjects such as reading and writing
  • Math and science are supported and strengthened through a variety of teacher led activities
  • Character Counts Club activities build good character and acceptable values
  • Outdoor time encourages the learning of new sports, strengthening of large muscle groups and value of teamwork and taking turns through participation in group games and other physical fitness activities
  • Creative development through the creation of their own theme based art or craft ideas for development of find motor skills, a sense of line, space and design as well as decision making skills using a variety of media
